LYCOS RETRIEVER
Claude Rains: Peter Petrelli
built 656 days ago
Claude then decides to train Peter after persistant effort. Claude's first task involves using a power when the "benefactor" (the power-owner) is not there. To test him on this, Claude steals a woman's purse, hands it to Peter, and leaves. Peter then turns normal, and is forced to use invisibility or risk being arrested.

Claude continues to work with Peter, trying to teach him to use his power consciously and not just as a reflex. Claude takes a purse from a woman standing nearby and hands it to Peter. He leaves Peter to see if he can maintain his invisibility without Claude's help, but Peter fails his test. Claude, realizing that Peter is too attached to people, tells him that people are selfish, deceitful and gassy. Peter insists that at least Simone is different. To find out whether or not this is true, Claude and Peter follow Simone to the roof of her father’s building.

Claude's second task involves the same thing, but this time for flying. He tells Peter to forget everything and everyone, as they are "distractions". Peter is then pushed off the edge of the building they are atop, and Peter doesn't know how to fly. Fortunately, he remembers the emotions he felt when near to Claire, and recovers after falling on a taxi and being mauled. Claude is proven wrong, that he has to remember the person to use the power, and then starts to remember everyone. Peter overpowers, his powers appearing rapidly after eachother, saying he can't control them and Claude just punches him, knocking him out and stopping the reaction, and says, "Well, it's a start."

Though Claude has the power to become invisible to the naked eye, he cannot become inaudible. He seems to have the ability to make objects in direct contact with his body turn invisible, such as clothing or personal objects held close to his body. This is exemplified when Claude grabs a woman's purse and hands it to Peter, which becomes invisible as Peter holds it in his arms, only becoming visible when Claude leaves his mimicking range. However, people who are invisible are capable of seeing themselves and others who are invisible (though he has been able to override this at times, becoming invisible even to Peter Petrelli). He is ... visible through thermal imaging, as when Mr. Bennet used infrared glasses to try and apprehend Claude.

Peter quickly informs Claude that he can "do what you can do," and Claude promptly wants nothing to do with Peter. He disappears around the corner, and Peter fades back into sight. He then follows Claude to the rooftop of Charles Deveaux's building, where the two fight a bit more and Claude threatens Peter for following him again. Later, when Peter is running away from his brother and Mohinder, Claude shows up outside of Peter's apartment and helps him escape. The two then talk about Peter's power as an empath, and they go off to steal a cab.

Claude is later seen attacking Peter with a red staff (or pipe) trying to get Peter to do something unexpected, which Peter succeeds in doing by stopping Claude using telekenesis, remembering Sylar's attack on him in Texas. Later on the rooftop Mr. Bennet and the Haitian attack Peter and Claude with Stun Guns, they succeed in stunning Claude but Peter stops the other one with telekenesis and then throws Claude of the building and jumping off, claiming he's doing something "unexpected", Peter then flies upwards holding Claude and flies away. Peter takes Claude to a hiding spot, but when Claude awakes he punches Peter across the face believing that Peter was the one who brought Mr. Bennet and the Haitian to him, saying he was hiding from them. Claude then believes that it was Isaac Mendez that pointed Bennet and the Haitian to them and leaves, no longer helping Peter.
