The major in Classical Studies requires the completion of 48 semester credits, including two years each of Latin (16 credits) and Greek (12 credits) and completion of two Classical Studies courses. Other program requirements include 18 semester credits from courses such as Art Appreciation, Survey of Classical Literature, Roman History, Introduction to Linguistics, Ancient Philosophy, and Introduction to the Old Testament.

Students of classical studies and archaeology are uniquely placed to develop flexible and critical skills at a leading international centre for the study of the ancient world. The only program of its kind in Australia, classical studies and archaeology draws upon cutting edge research, the world class collection at the Ian Potter Museum of Art and a range of innovative multimedia resources. The Centre for Classics and Archaeology, within the School of Historical Studies, provides students with a multi-disciplinary perspective on ancient Graeco-Roman, Aegean and Near Eastern civilisations. A number of fieldwork options are provided in which students gain direct and practical project experience. Students ... have the opportunity to study Ancient Greek (Language study streams) and Latin (Language study streams) and may specialise in a particular area or pursue broader interests. The Institute of Classical Studies is a national and international research Institute in the languages, literature, history, art, archaeology and philosophy of the ancient Greek and Roman worlds. It is a member Institute of the University of London's School of Advanced Study which combines the advantages of a graduate school with those of a centre for postdoctoral research and scholarship in many aspects of the Humanities.
