MSNJ and the other signatory medical societies prosecuting the national class-action lawsuit against HealthNet have reached a settlement agreement. This is the third of six national class- actions against major healthcare insurers to reach settlement. The agreement must be approved by the U.S. Federal District Court in Florida. The hearing is set for September 19, 2005. If approved, the settlement agreement will cover approximately 900,000 physicians. Class members who wish to opt-out of the settlement agreement must do so by August 22, 2005.

In March 2006, the court granted final approval to a settlement of a class action by consumers who purchased or acquired Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100 Series notebook computers in the United States. Consumers charged the notebooks were defective. The settlement provides for new warranties and full reimbursement for any out-of-pocket expenses incurred by consumers in repairing their notebooks.

DETROIT, July 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Comerica Incorporated (NYSE: CMA) today announced that the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan preliminarily approved the settlement of two shareholder class action lawsuits that were filed against Comerica in October 2002. The lawsuits followed an October 2, 2002, announcement of an incremental provision for credit losses, a related restatement of financial statements for the second quarter of 2002, and a goodwill impairment for Comerica's Munder Capital Management subsidiary.

Class-action suits seeking $5 million or more would remain in state court if the primary defendant and more than one-third of the plaintiffs are from the same state. But if fewer than one-third of the plaintiffs are from the same state as the primary defendant, the case would go to federal court.
