The Cingular solution ... gives officers fast access to state and federal databases during traffic stops and other situations right from their vehicles. This allows them to determine whether a vehicle is stolen, the driver is wanted on an outstanding warrant, and the like in near real-time. Previously, dispatchers at headquarters checked criminal databases and then passed along the information to officers via radio transmissions, which were often delayed and garbled.

Just a little more information on the Cingular data plans. MediaNet and DataConnect are the basic data features that Cingular offers. These features have been offered in many flavors and packages, and there is a lot of confusion when you look at the website, talk to a rep, etc…

To complete activation, go to Cingular's prepaid website -- http://www.cingular.com/activations. Select the "Pay as You Go" option under "GoPhone." That's where you'll need all the information you wrote down earlier. Or you can dial 1-877-426-0525.
