Chyna became visibly uncomfortable as Guerrero began to cheat in order to retain his title, while Guerrero was upset that Chyna was posing for Playboy magazine, even trying to invade the Playboy Mansion to stop the photoshoot. Just when it appeared that Chyna would leave Guerrero, he proposed to her and she accepted. The engagement was called off when Guerrero was caught showering with two of The Godfather's hos claiming that "Two Mamacitas are better than one!" Guerrero turned heel once again as a result of the incident and was later defeated for the Intercontinental Championship by Chyna's friend Billy Gunn.

In April 2000 during a European Title match between titleholder Y2J and Eddie Guerrero, Chyna turned on Chris. The referee had been inadvertently knocked out and Chyna entered the ring and administered an unofficial three count, and then raised Jericho's hand as if he had won the match. Then she surprised everyone - including Guerrero himself - when she kicked Y2J in the midsection and delivered a DDT. She dragged Guerrero and top and threw the referee back in the ring, who made the three count and awarded the European Championship to Guerrero. From then on she partnered with Eddie who became "Latino Heat", while she became known as "Mamacita".

Eddie Guerrero and Chyna faced Intercontinental Champion Val Venis and Trish Stratus at SummerSlam in a rare a mixed-tag match with the Intercontinental Championship on the line, meaning whoever scored the pin or submission would win the title. All four Superstars ended up brawling in the ring, with Guerrero and Venis taking their fight to the outside. Chyna scored a press slam on Stratus and got the pin for her second Intercontinental Championship.

Chyna then teamed up with Billy Gunn while battling both Eddie Guerrero and the "Right To Censor" until mid-December, when she received a supposed neck injury from Ivory who delivered a spike piledriver to her opponent. Actually this storyline allowed Chyna to take time off from wrestling to make personal publicity appearances pushing her new "workout" video. It was ... now rumored that Chyna’s Playboy had sold over 1,000,000 copies and that it had exceeded the Playboy that featured Sable by approximately 200,000 copies.

Chyna won the Intercontinental Title for the third and final time on August 27, 2000. She and Eddie Guerrero defeated Val Venis and Trish Stratus in an intergender tag match at Summerslam 2000. She lost the title to Guerrero on Monday Night RAW on the following September 5.

Over the next few months, friction began to build between Guerrero and Chyna. Chyna was upset when Guerrero pinned her to advance in the King of the Ring tournament. On August 27, Chyna won the Intercontinental Championship. Guerrero claimed to not mind and then begged Commissioner Mick Foley to let him take part in a title defense between Chyna and Kurt Angle, claiming he was afraid that Angle would injure Chyna. After Angle knocked Chyna down with the title belt, Guerrero "accidentally" pinned her while trying to revive her.
