The Chrysler Pacifica's blend of performance, style and comfort would certenly be appealing for any midsize family. The Pacifica is available in three models - base, Touring and Limited. An innovative DVD-based navigation system is offered with the screen mounted in the instrument cluster for easy viewing by the driver. The Pacifica combines the characteristics of an SUV, a minivan, and a wagon in an all-wheel-drive package that seats six. Ride and handling are capable, but the powertrain falls a bit short. Access is easy, and the third row folds flat when not needed.

For long family road trips, the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica has a fold-down 7-inch DVD screen in the back with wireless headphones so that the driver isn't diverted or annoyed by the soundtrack. The car comes with two headphones, and extras cost $38 for a pair. The best part is that the adults up front can listen to the radio or a CD while the kids watch Fantasia. The audio quality of the headphones can't match the surprisingly crisp sound of the Intermezzo eight-speaker sound system, which would be perfect if it had a touch more midrange. The Pacifica even has a trio of input jacks for an external video player, a camcorder, or an MP3 player.

For crossover shoppers, the Chrysler Pacifica has a lot of the right ingredients. It seats up to six, rides comfortably on the highway and swallows the weekly Costco haul without too much trouble. When first introduced, the Chrysler Pacifica generated many favorable comments. Reviewers and owners praised its comfort, room, flexibility, ride and handling. They did not... become overly enthusiastic about engine performance. “Adequate,� was about as generous as reviewers got when talking about the 3.5-liter V-6. Then, in an effort to create a less costly version of the Pacifica, the company reconfigured standard equipment, the seating and substituted a 3.8-liter V-6.
