Christmas Tree: Years
built 240 days ago
A[B]out forty million real Christmas trees are sold in North America every year. Of these, five to six million are grown in Canada. A real Christmas tree is part of the Christmas tradition and contributes to making Christmas a real and meaningful experience.
Cole first learned of the story in a book outlining the history of the Christmas tree. Then earlier this year he began developing the idea of holding a Christmas market in Riga Old Town's Dome Square.
Sometime in the week prior to Thanksgiving, anti-tree terrorists attacked the famous tree, Luna, in which Julia Butterly lived for over two years. The terrorists attacked the ancient redwood tree with a chainsaw which etched a 32" deep cut around the circumference of the tree. Forestry experts at press time were unable to confirm how long the tree would live, but efforts are being made to shore up the tree to be able to withstand winter storms, which can be extremely heavy in the Northern California Headwaters Forest area. Julia Butterfly Hill went to visit the tree on Thursday, November 29th, and promised to talk to the press afterwards. This is indeed a very sad commentary on the human race. - js
During the time that Anne Frank spent in hiding there was only one object outside the house she could look at: a chestnut tree. This chestnut tree is going down tomorrow, if a judge doesn't decide otherwise today. The decision to take it down was made months ago, but now as the date draws near, the efforts to salvage it are becoming increasingly apparent. The reason for it to be taken down, is that the tree is sick, dying, and hollow. It won't survivemany more storms, thusposing a threat to surrounding houses and parked cars. Yesterday a tree-pulling test was performedhowever, that showed that the tree is strong enough to remain in its position for many more years.

Almost all trees require shearing to attain the Christmas tree shape. At six to seven feet, trees are ready for harvest. It takes six to ten years of fighting heavy rain, wind, hail and drought to get a mature tree.
For more than 25 years, the airport has celebrated the holidays with Christmas trees over its entrances. But overnight, the Port of Seattle ordered all of them removed. Maintenance workers boxed up the trees during the graveyard shift early Saturday, when airport bosses believed few people would notice.
