Darryl worked on Sting's Grammy-Award-winning "Brand New Day" CD and tour. He ... has the distinction of singing on two Grammy-Award-winning "West Side Story" albums, one, the last produced by Leonard Bernstein; the other produced by Dave Grusin. Darryl was the pianist and musical director for "In Performance at the White House–The Singer and the Song," a PBS Special. He has worked with Quincy Jones, Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, O.C Smith, Nancy Wilson, Carly Simon, Korn, Laurie Anderson, Barry Manilow, Diana Ross, Roberta Flack, Cristina Aquilera, Natalie Cole, Peter, Paul & Mary, George Benson, Burt Bacharach, Luther Vandross, Lionel Ritchie, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Gerry Mulligan, Patti Austin, Bobby McFerrin, among others. Darryl has sung in Spanish with Mexico's legendary Juan Gabriel, in French with superstar Patricia Kaas, and in Japanese with jazz great Katsumi Horii.

Others, like editorial assistant Becky Morrissey, like to keep it traditional, while City Editor Pamela Berard goes for the more contemporary "All I Want for Christmas" by Mariah Carey. "It's cheesy, I know," Berard said. "But how can you not be happy when you hear that song? It's infectious."

Christmas songs is from the 4th Century, Jesus refulsit omnium, composed by St. Hilary of Poitiers. During the 12th Century, St Francis of Assisi formally introduced Christmas carols to church services. As patron of the arts, he inspired the composers and poets of the day to deliver Christmas music. The lighter joyous Christmas songs were introduced many years later in Renaissance Italy - the 1400s, the time of Leonardo da Vinci and Michaelangelo. The earliest known copy of an English carol was written by Ritson about 1410. contributed significantly in composing music themes from the Bible.

In the early 1990s, Manilow signed on with Don Bluth to compose the songs with lyricists Jack Feldman and Bruce Sussman for three animated films. He co-wrote the Broadway-style musical scores for "Thumbelina" (1994) and "The Pebble and the Penguin" (1995). The third film, entitled "Rapunzel", was shelved after the poor performance of "Pebble". Manilow was ... to be cast as the voice of a cricket. Manilow also composed the score and wrote two songs with Bruce Sussman for Disney Sing Along Songs: Let's Go To The Circus. But unfortunately, because of a contract agreed by both of them, Andrew Belling and Domenick Allen were credited as composers, meaning that nobody isn't supposed to know that a celebrity like Manilow should be credited in that movie.
