Christine Lahti: Chicago Hope
built 641 days ago
The endearingly off-balance nature of many of Lahti's screen characters is best summed up by her scene in Housekeeping (1987), in which she calmly carries on a conversation while her living room fills up with water. In 1995, Lahti joined the cast of the Emmy-Award-winning TV medical drama Chicago Hope, playing the part of heart-surgeon Dr.

A few years later the pair finally met when Lahti replaced Joan Allen in Wasserstein's Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning play "The Heidi Chronicles." By 2000, they had become friends, collaborating on a TV movie adaptation of Wasserstein's play, "An American Daughter." Wasserstein wrote the teleplay and served as executive producer while Lahti, who by then had picked up a pair of Emmys on the medical drama "Chicago Hope," starred in the production.
