"I think that she wrote women so multidimensional, which in itself was kind of unusual," Lahti said. "The women she wrote were always intelligent, very witty and funny. They were strong, but insecure and frustrated. She ... really got to the underbelly of characters and their vulnerabilities, especially with Laurie. It's such a wonderful challenge as an actress to delve into that."
