Christina Ricci: Roles
built 230 days ago
Twenty-two years after the original, Christina Ricci takes Hayley Mills' role as the smalltown teenager whose assertive tomcat D.C. unravels a kidnapping plot like a ball of yarn, much to the chagrin of the bungling kidnappers. Based on the novel "Undercover Cat" by The Gordons.

Christina Ricci recently revealed some behind the scenes tidbits from Black Snake Moan, not the least of which being that she stayed nude for most of the shoot; even when cameras stopped rolling. MSN Reports:

In the new millennium, Ricci continued to play essential roles, including costarring with Kim Basinger in the thriller Bless the Child (2000), portraying Cheri Post. Because of her bravura performance, she took home her second Blockbuster Entertainment award for Favorite Supporting Actress in a Suspense Film in 2001. With Sally Potter directing, Ricci rejoined Johnny Depp in the World War II drama The Man Who Cried (2000... starring Cate Blanchett and John Turturro).
After detouring through a slate of minor indie thrillers ("Miranda" and "The Gathering"), Ricci took a highly publicized stint on the final season of TV's "Ally McBeal" (Fox, 1997-2002) as the provocative young attorney Liza Bump. She returned to the big screen as a neurotic actress who intentionally or unintentionally tortures smitten writer Jason Biggs in writer-director Woody Allen's "Anything Else" (2003), playing her role in the pitch-perfect tradition of Allen leading ladies Diane Keaton and Mia Farrow. After a turn in "I Love Your Work" (2003), the directorial debut of her then-beau, actor Adam Goldberg, Ricci received praise for her turn in the harrowing "Monster" (2003), based on the life of drifter and female serial killer Aileen Wournos (Charlize Theron). As Selby, the young lesbian lover who may or may not have turned a blind eye to Wournos' string of murders (a slightly fictionalized version of Wournos' real-life companion, who ultimately testified against her in court), Ricci had one of her most effective dramatic roles to date.

Christina Ricci Photo In 2003, Ricci decided to try her hand at directing with The Speed Queen (2004)... starring in the film in the lead role as Marjorie Standiford, a woman only hours away from her execution on death row. She received her first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series when she guest-starred on Grey's Anatomy in 2005.

Ricci fought hard for the role, projecting pure anxiety during her audition but raising doubts as to whether she could ... tap into Rae's carnal side. "So my agent started inundating Craig Brewer with photo shoots I had done that are pure sex shots," she says, laughing.
