The homepage of The Christian Way, a "ministry of former-Christian Scientists for truth through Jesus" is an anti-Christian Science web site maintained by former Christian Scientists. There are essays exposing Christian Science's inconsistencies and faults, a welcome note, testimonials, and a bibliography of some Christian Science resources, more than half of which are against Christian Science. An interesting look at an anti-cult movement.

The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, from another perspective Christian Scientists who wish to become public practitioners of Christian Science—spiritual healers—complete an intensive two-week "Primary" class. The instruction in this class is provided by a teacher. Teachers are added every three years by the church from the pool of active public practitioners. To become a teacher, they must first be selected by the church, then they take another class designated "Normal". Both classes are based on the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy. In particular, the "Primary" class focuses upon the chapter entitled "Recapitulation" in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
A Christian Scientist’s goal is to fully understand both his spiritual nature and the unreality of matter. As he comprehends these “truths,” his experience reflects this understanding in the form of healings and in the overcoming of life’s challenges. Christian Science never really explains where the belief in matter came from or why it seems to exist – it just does (“seemingly”), and it must be challenged at every turn as it constantly tries to convince us that what we feel, hear, taste, see, and touch are real.

According to Christian Scientist literature, Mary Ann Morse Baker was born in 1821. She was a frail youngster who suffered from many illnesses. In 1844, her first husband, George Glover, died of yellow fever and left her in poverty with an infant son. Shortly thereafter, Mary was forced to give up her son to foster care. In 1853, she married her second husband, Daniel Patterson. After being miraculously healed from injuries suffered during a crippling accident, Mary claimed to have uncovered the secret of "Divine Science." She went on to teach her techniques of healing and spiritual philosophy to all who were intrigued.
