Columbus Percussion hosted the 12th Annual "Drum Daze" this weekend in Columbus, Ohio. Among the world renowned artists that were invited to instruct and perform at this year's event was Mapex artist and Dillinger Escape Plan drummer, Chris Pennie.

Columbus will direct and produce "Sub-Mariner" along with Marvel Studios' Avi Arad and Kevin Misher/Misher Films. David Self ("Road to Perdition") wrote the script, which Columbus will direct when he's finished with "Rent."

Columbus rehearsed very little with the children since many had little acting experience and he didn't want to lose their spontaneity. Instead, he drew upon past experiences from Home Alone and Mrs. Doubtfire, and met with the young actors in an office, reading through the lines with them to make sure the dialogue and situations worked and ... to get them comfortable with their characters.

In 1995, Columbus started his own production company named 1492 Pictures. This name is intended as a play on Columbus's more famous namesake, Christopher Columbus (1492 is the year of Columbus' arrival to the New World.)
