Dr. Chopper Lewis Schoenbrun's DR. CHOPPER has a pleasingly twisted premise which opens as many a horror movie has. A group of five young people travel to a family cabin on the shore of a beautiful lake, where they plan to spend a weekend of partying and fun. But a dangerous killer is on the loose, and he's out for blood--and body parts. Decades ago, Dr. Chopper and his crew of motorcycle-riding nurses began using their surgical skills to steal the body parts they need to keep themselves alive and beautiful. But after innumerable transplants, beauty is a thing of the past, and these horrible creatures require victims in order to stay alive. Gruesome, demented, and driven by maniacal glee, the Doctor launches his attack to harvest the body parts of isolated college kids.

MTV.com Keesha Johnson, a spokesperson for Diddy, disputed Chopper's claims. She said Diddy promoted Chopper as the first breakout artist from Da Band (see "Da Band's New Reality: Solo Albums And Movie Deals") and that Bad Boy and its distributor, Atlantic Records, funded both of Chopper's videos. While Johnson did not respond specifically to Chopper's comments regarding Hurricane Katrina, she noted that Diddy, along with Jay-Z, made a monetary contribution to the American Red Cross. In September 2005, the two artists announced they were combining checkbooks to donate $1 million (see "Jay-Z, Diddy, Others Reach Out To Disaster Victims; Kanye West Attacks Bush During Telethon").

Writer/director Andrew Dominick does not fare so well in other areas of Chopper. The movie plays out as a series of extended vignettes, offering little to no insight into Chopper's charisma. It is easy to Dominick to show violence on screen (especially given the subject manner), but not easy to explain it. At the end of the movie, the viewer knows nothing about who Chopper really is. Chopper begins with Chopper in jail. He quickly makes alienates himself from both his enemies and friends, and cuts off his ears to get transferred. This only helps him in the psycho department. Once out of jail, Chopper has a grand illusion of the criminal he wants to be.
