Fifty people have been jailed and six have taken their own lives after Victoria's biggest child pornography swoop. Operation Auxin, am Australia-wide crackdown on cyber perverts, identified more than 180 suspects who had hoarded up to 12,000 sickening images each, according to figures obtained for the first time by the Herald Sun. All were men. Victoria had the highest number of suspects of any state during the inquiry. Among them were a policeman, school principal, child-care centre director, youth worker, a prison guard and a priest. Men aged 36 to 45 were by far the most represented group in the September 2004 raids.

MUSKEGON -- A man charged with possessing child pornography worked as a Santa Claus at Muskegon's biggest shopping mall. Walter Arthur Johnson, 49, of Muskegon County's Muskegon Township, was arraigned Wednesday on four felony counts of possessing child sexually abusive materials. If convicted on any of the counts, he faces up to four years in prison and a fine. Michigan State Police say Johnson was employed last Christmas season as Santa Claus at The Lakes Mall in Fruitport Township. Police say none of the charges against Johnson involve his position as Santa Claus. But they say his Yahoo!

Michael Alan Bowman, 51, of Billings, Mont., who pleaded guilty to child pornography charges was sentenced to 27 months in prison. Bowman was ... ordered to continue sex-offender therapy, stay away from children unless accompanied by another adult approved by his probation officer, and is forbidden to use the Internet either at home or at work without permission from the probation officer. A.P., Dec. 14: Albert M. Lee, 35, of Dover, Del., who pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography and seducing a minor over the Internet has been sentenced to almost five years in federal prison. Lee had sex in 1998 with a 15-year-old Maryland girl he met online and last year tried to seduce two FBI agents posing as junior high school students in an Internet chat room, prosecutors said. After reviewing a psychological report on Lee, U.S. District Court Judge Gregory M. Sleet gave him more time than recommended by federal sentencing guidelines. "I do not know how often you have succeeded in this deplorable behavior, but I do know that you must be incarcerated for an extended period of time to prevent you from causing any further harm," Sleet told Lee at this week's sentencing.

A notorious pedophile has been arrested for allegedly writing child pornography while in prison. He was arrested earlier today by Sexual Crime Investigation Branch detectives. It is alleged he wrote a story that described fictitious boys performing sexual acts. He is the second South Australian prisoner to be charged as part of a police investigation into pedophiles producing child pornography in the state's prisons. The state's most notorious pedophile, Bevan Spencer von Einem, appeared in court late last month on similar charges. Both men have been accused of handwriting pornographic stories about boys, which were found during searches of their cells.

A man arrested in the midst of an investigation into the nation's largest child pornography ring could spend the next five years in prison. Scott L. Johnson, 59, was found guilty Wednesday on three counts of possession of child pornography. Postal Inspector Robert Williams said, "All child porn is visual evidence of the sexual abuse of a child," he said. "Imagine if you are 35 and images of you were floating around from 20 or 30 years ago. Imagine the embarrassment and the mental anguish."
