Ernie Allen, who leads the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which is mandated to coordinate the nation's efforts to combat child pornography, said he was surprised that the full study had not been released. "This is the kind of research the public needs to know about," Allen said. Others agreed that the report should be published but were more cautious about the findings. "The results could have tremendous implications for community safety and for individual liberties," said Dr. Fred Berlin, founder of the Johns Hopkins Sexual Disorders Clinic. "If people we thought were not dangerous are more so, then we need to know that and we should treat them that way. But if we're wrong, then their liberties aren't going to be fairly addressed."

A Garfield man accused of using the Internet to order a videotape from a federal agent posing as a child pornography dealer pleaded innocent Monday to child pornography charges. Charles Eric Newman, 27, was indicted Aug. 8 in U.S. District Court in Fayetteville on charges accusing him of possessing child pornography that had been shipped across state lines and downloading child pornography on his computer. Authorities began investigating Newman after he responded to an Internet ad by an undercover inspector. The ad placed on an Internet news bulletin board called "alt.sex.babies," offered videos showing "HOT ACTION of pre-teen and young teen girls and boys." On April 28, Newman sent the inspector an e-mail with child pornography attached, the affidavit says. Newman agreed to trade a compact disc of illicit images of children for a videotape showing a 13-year-old girl touching an adult man sexually while an 11-year-old girl watches, the affidavit says.

In 1987, Dr. Greenberg's consultation in another aborted child abuse investigation - into the child pornography operation run by the Finders cult - exposed his unshakable bias in favor of ritual abuse perpetrators, and his role in a CIA cover-up. The Finders, as most cult observers are aware, was a CIA-anchored clutch of ritual abusers engaged in operant mind control conditioning, child pornography and kidnapping. At first, Langley officials acknowledged to custom agents in Tallahassee, Florida that they "owned the Finders."7 Marion David Pettie, who retired from the Air Force in 1956 and defined himself as a "political powerhouse," was the guiding light of the cult. He denied any connection to Langley - yet his late wife was a CIA employee and his son a veteran of Air America, the opiate courier. Confidential sources told police the Finders conducted "brainwashing" sessions and "explored satanism."8 Police in Tallahassee were called off the case after Dr. Greenberg examined the children and found "no evidence of recent physical harm." Nonetheless, two Florida policemen stood by their statement that they'd found visible evidence of sexual abuse.

A Baton Rouge man who admitted trading child pornography was sentenced Tuesday to 46 months in prison and barred from logging onto the Internet for three years after he gets out. John Leroy Winn Jr., 23, must ... serve three years supervised release, register as a sex offender and receive counseling while in prison. U.S. District Judge John V. Parker said the sentence handed down was "harsh" for a first-time offender, but befitting of the crime. "It's not something of a 'no victim' offense," Parker said during a sentencing hearing Tuesday. "There are victims. They are very small children."

Vanderburgh County is all set to have a new task force that will investigate computer crimes such as child pornography, credit card fraud, and identity theft. Investigators will focus on crimes committed against children. The task force will consist of the Sheriff's Department, the prosecutor's office, and the Evansville Police Department. The joint effort will be established as soon as Eric Williams takes over as sheriff of Vanderburgh County. The proposal is not official yet, but Williams says he would like to start by the middle of next year. The number of computer crimes have gone up in the last five years, according to the Sheriff's Department.
