The lead investigative agency for child pornography/ obscenity prosecutions in January 2007 was FBI accounting for 49 percent of prosecutions referred. Other agencies with substantial numbers of child pornography/ obscenity referrals were: DHS (25% ), Local (5%). See Figure3.

Despite the fact that these subjects have already been explored in the media and brought to public attention, child abuse and child pornography remain taboo subjects in today's society. naiin feels it is their responsibility to sensitise the national and international public to this issue and to actively fight child abuse and the exchange of child pornography over the Internet through cooperation with activist groups, associations, government agencies and the economic community. Among other things, this includes observing the scene, banning websites, and identifying offenders.

The former school superintendent in Burrillville was indicted yesterday by a federal grand jury on charges of possessing child pornography and sharing it with the former head of the local Parent Teacher Organization. The indictment against Robert A. Purcell alleges he traded sexually explicit images involving children with Faith Fisher Broadbent using e-mail.
