Buy Chicago Cubs Tickets The Chicago Cubs are one of the oldest clubs in Major League baseball. Interestingly they are ... the oldest franchise to remain in the same city. The home of the Cubs is the Wrigley Field Stadium. It is the second oldest ballpark in Major League baseball. The stadium is also well known for the ivy foliage covering the outfield walls. As a matter of fact, the Chicago Cubs have played more games than any other team in Major League Baseball.

While the nearly 100-year drought is the main one that is talked about, the Chicago Cubs have a chance to break a 31-year drought that is less talked about. Can ending that one lead to the end of the big one? Take a look at the 2004 Chicago Cubs and you be the judge.

The Chicago Cubs enter the 2005 season as one of the favorites to win the NL Central division once again. After suffering embarrassing collapses late in each of the last two seasons, the Cubs are ready to get the monkey off their back and return to the World Series for the first time since 1945. The Cubs have won seven pennants since last winning the World Series in 1908, but they had the misfortune of running into some great teams, including the Philadelphia Athletics of the Dead Ball Era, the New York Yankees of the 1930s, and the Detroit Tigers of the 1930s and 1940s. The 2004 season marked the first time the Cubs had back-to-back winning seasons since 1972, when the Cubs had six consecutive winning seasons. If Chicago was a little deeper during that era, they could have won a few World Series. The teams included guys like Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, Ron Santo and Ferguson Jenkins, but unfortunately, they did not have much support.
Chicago Cubs prospect Tyler Colvin got his professional career off to a solid if not spectacular start. The power hitting outfielder was taken with the 13th overall pick in the 2006 draft following an outstanding junior season at Clemson. In his final year of college baseball Colvin batted .356 with 13 homeruns and 70 rbi's and stole 23 bases in 69 games while leading Clemson to an appearance in the Super Regionals. After being drafted, the left handed hitting Colvin batted .268 with 11 homeruns and 53 rbi's in 64 games at Short-A Boise. He ... hit six triples and stole 12 bases on the season. Expect the 21 year old to begin 2007 at Low-A Peoria and likely find his way to High-A Daytona by season's end.
With last week's sale of the Tribune Company to real estate mogul Sam Zell, the Chicago Cubs will be sold at the end of the season to help pay off some of the debts the Tribune Co. owes. Because Zell is ... a minority owner of the White Sox, unless he sells his shares, he will be required under MLB rules to sell the Cubs....
