Chevy was created in 1912 by brothers Gaston and Louis Chevrolet, the race driver, and by Billy Durant. In a strange twist of fate, GM bought out Chevy in 1946 with a stock transfer and found afterwards that they had actually handed control of GM back to Billy Durant.
