The 2006 Chevrolet SSR model isn’t involved in the technical service bulletin (... called a “secret warranty” because it isn’t publicized by GM). Chevrolet issued the repair bulletin to its dealer on August 1, 2005. The 2006 SSR may not have been included because GM either fixed the issue or the problem had not yet been reported on the 2006 model year line at the time the bulletin was published.
Now free from heavy overhead related to the early termination of the Chevrolet SSR and its old paint and composites divisions, ASC has a strong balance sheet that is poised for profitable growth in the open air and creative services businesses. This month, ASC and Jeep will introduce yet another open air innovation to the U.S. market -- the new Sky Slider roof. The full open air roof option offers a convertible-like experience in SUVs and Crossovers at an affordable price point. Early dealer orders are strong for this innovative roof system.

Chevrolet must have watched the demise of the Plymouth Prowler with a keen eye, as all the features hot-rod enthusiasts complained were lacking on the Prowler are clear and present on the SSR. Chevrolet's 50s era hot-rod pickup includes a power retractable hardtop, removable tonneau cover, an available six-speed manual transmission and a fire-breathing V8 engine—something home-built hot-rod enthusiasts appreciate. This retro pickup is built on the TrailBlazer chassis and features a 6.0-liter V8 good for 400 horsepower. Although the SSR is a limited-production vehicle, it is still possible to get a good deal on a 2006 model.

With this, Chevrolet wanted to do something to commemorate this Final Chapter in the SSR's lifespan. So a "Final Production Edition" was chosen and those vehicles being built during February carried a special "Final Production Run 2006" waterfall emblem.
The SSR draws its retro looks from the 1953 Chevrolet pickup. The SSR wears the same full-width, barred grille and rounded headlights and fenders as its fifties predecessor. However, it includes some modern features such as a two-piece power retractable hardtop and a covered bed. The hardtop stows vertically between the two front bucket seats and the bed.
