Chevrolet Malibu: Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
built 435 days ago
The Chevrolet Malibu is a midsize five-passenger sedan available in four trim levels. The base LS has air-conditioning, CD player, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, powered accessories and a 60/40-split folding rear seat. The well-equipped LT adds a unique remote vehicle starter and upgraded trim and audio. Luxury-lined LTZ models have leather seating, automatic climate control, power-adjustable pedals and OnStar. There's ... the performance-oriented SS featuring a more powerful V6, 18-inch alloy wheels, a sport-tuned suspension and more supportive sport seats. (The Malibu Maxx is a separate model; its hatchback body style lends itself to added versatility.)

The original Chevrolet Malibu was a trim level on the 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle, and by 1978 had became its own model. But the current Chevrolet Malibu, introduced for 1997, has very little to do with the original, except for the name. The new front-wheel drive Malibu was a critical success, winning Motor Trend's "Car of the Year" when it was introduced. The Malibu was redesigned for 2004. Now based upon the Epsilon platform, the new Malibu is offered as a four-door sedan and as a wagon, dubbed the Malibu Maxx.

The trunk of the Chevrolet Malibu Maxx has 22.8 cubic feet of room. That is nearly double the space offered by many of the sedans in the class. As it is becoming plainly obvious, the new Malibu Maxx is not your typical sedan.

The Chevrolet Malibu MAXX is a long-wheelbase variant of the regular Malibu, whose extended roofline and rear cargo hatch suggest a sporty wagon. While Malibu seems destined to disappear into a crowd, the MAXX looks just as determined to stand out and be noticed.

The 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx uses GM's Epsilon architecture for improved riding dynamics. In terms of design, it has clean, crisp lines, crystalline-like headlamp lenses and a chrome front bar with a gold Chevy bowtie.
