Chevrolet Equinox: Saturn Vue
built 614 days ago
The well-rounded 2008 Chevrolet Equinox has a lot going for it, including a spacious and versatile cabin and smooth, quiet ride that makes it a great choice for long trips. And now its basic goodness has been enhanced with variants that focus on performance and luxury for those so inclined. True, it faces solid competition from rivals like the Honda CR-V, Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Rogue, Toyota RAV4 and even the Saturn Vue, but the Equinox is certainly hard to beat given its something-for-everyone lineup. If you're looking for a competent, functional and safe runabout that does most things well, the 2008 Equinox definitely belongs on your list of models to check out.

Chevrolet will introduce an all-new sport-utility vehicle next spring called the Equinox. It will look like the newest trucks from Chevrolet, including Avalanche, TrailBlazer, Silverado, and the upcoming Colorado. It will share its basic architecture with the Saturn Vue, though Equinox is a full 6 inches longer. The platform is a unitized body made of high-strength steel, with full-length frame rails and a passenger safety cage in a single, welded unit, and isolated subframes front and rear to keep noise, vibration and shaking to a minimum. To keep initial pricing as low as possible, Chevrolet has put a lot of equipment on the option list. Even air conditioning will be optional.

One crossover SUV from Chevrolet is the Chevrolet Equinox. It was introduced in 2004 as replacement for the Chevrolet Tracker, GM’s small-sized SUV. It mechanical components were almost similar to another GM vehicle, the Saturn Vue. The two ... have very different body styling that makes one recognizable from the other model. Both the Saturn Vue and the Chevrolet Equinox use unibody Theta auto platform, which was co-produced by GM with Suzuki Motors. This platform features four-wheel independent suspension.

Introduced as an early 2005 model, the midsize Equinox sport utility vehicle is considered Chevrolet’s first “crossover” SUV. Related to the Saturn Vue, it uses a 185-horsepower V-6 and a five-speed-automatic transmission and may have either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
