Chevrolet Blazer

As for the full-size Chevrolet Blazer, the best models from the early '90s to look at would be those built from 1992 to 1994. These redesigned models were built using GM's then-new full-size truck platform. A 200-horsepower 5.7-liter V8 powered nearly all Blazers of this generation, though a 6.5-liter turbodiesel V8 with 180 hp and 360 lb-ft of torque was optional for '94. Four-wheel drive was standard across the board. In 1995, Chevy changed this model's name to Tahoe and introduced a four-door body, which in short time proved to be far more popular than the two-door.

The Chevrolet Blazer (4WD model T-10) and the similar GMC S-15 Jimmy (4WD model T-15) were mid-size SUVs from General Motors. Production began alongside the larger K5 Blazer and Jimmy in 1983 and lasted through 2005. In the United States retail sales after 2001 were limited to two-door Blazer models, all other models being sold to fleets, until April 20, 2005. Retail sales of the (two-door) Jimmy were limited to the Canadian market after 2001.

The new 2004 2005 Chevrolet Blazer delivers a Vortec 4300 V6 engine, 190 horsepower, a five-speed manual transmission (standard on 2-Door models). A four-speed automatic transmission is standard on all 4 door models and available on the 2 door models. An electronically controlled four-speed automatic overdrive transmission is standard on 4-Door and optional on 2-Door models. A five-speed manual overdrive transmission is standard on 2-Door models. To help cut down on maintenance, the new Chevy Blazer's engine has platinum tip spark plugs (100,000 miles before spark plugs need to be replaced). The recommended engine coolant change is 150,000 miles or 5 years.

The original Chevrolet Blazer full size SUV arrived in 1969, built on top Chevy’s popular C/K truck chassis and dubbed the K5 Blazer. Originally the Chevy Blazer sported a removable hard top, but that was replaced in 1976, when a redesigned half cab body style was released. The advantage to owning a full size Chevrolet Blazer is obvious. Built on a short pickup truck platform, this increased the interior space while reducing production costs. This was the perfect combination of the power of Chevrolets’ C/K truck series and the comforts of an SUV. The Chevrolet K5 Blazer could be equipped with a 250 straight six up to a 350 V8, standard or automatic transmissions, and came in two or four wheel drive.
