- Claire Bloom -- Charlie Chaplin
While taking drama lessons at Badminton, Guildhall School, and the Central School of Speech and Drama, "Claire Bloom" began appearing on BBC radio, and made her stage debut at 15 with the Oxford Repertory. She made her London bow in 1947, and the following year was effusively praised for her performance as Ophelia in a Stratford-upon-Avon production of Hamlet. Also in 1948, she appeared in her first film, "The Blind Goddess" (1948). While gainfully employed at the Old Vic in 1952, Bloom was selected by "Charlie Chaplin" to portray the suicidal ballerina Terry in Chaplin's "Limelight". Though the film was inadequately distributed due to Chaplin's "questionable" political beliefs, "Limelight" made Bloom an overnight star -- after only nine years in the business. - Joe Satriani
Along with teaching some of the top rock guitar players of the '80s and '90s, Joe Satriani is one of the most technically accomplished and widely respected guitarists to emerge in recent times. Born on July 15, 1956, in Westbury, NY, and raised in the nearby town of Carle Place, Satriani -- inspired by guitar legend Jimi Hendrix -- picked up the guitar at the age of 14 (although he was initially more interested in the drums). Quickly learning the instrument, Satriani began teaching guitar to others and found a kindred spirit in one of his students, Steve Vai. By the late '70s... Satriani had relocated to Berkeley, CA. With his sights set on his own musical career, "Satch" kept teaching others, including such future rock notables as Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Larry LaLonde (Primus), David Bryson (Counting Crows), and jazz fusion player Charlie Hunter. In the early '80s, Satriani got a gig playing guitar with power popster Greg Kihn, doing some session work and touring with the group (an archival release recorded around this time, King Biscuit Flower Hour, was later issued in 1996), and issuing his own solo self-titled EP in 1984, financing and releasing the project entirely on his own. But when Vai hit the big time as the guitarist of David Lee Roth's solo band in 1986, he offered praise for his good friend and former teacher in several major guitar publications, leading to widespread interest in Satriani's playing. - Norah Jones -- New York City
Born March 30, 1979, in New York City, but raised in a suburb of Dallas, Texas after relocating south with her mother Sue, Norah Jones showed a strong aptitude for music since childhood. She enrolled in Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts to hone her musical talents but after exposure to several instruments, she realized she wanted to play the piano. - Norah Jones -- Music
Norah Jones is a performer who has made quite a name for herself as an anomaly in pop music. She's released two albums ... far, both of which have sold millions upon millions of copies, yet she's not by any means flashy, her songs never quite get past mid-tempo, and her voice is very likely more suited to 1940s jazz standards than today's pop charts. She's an unlikely hero of adult contemporary, someone who's managed to make music for moms and dads that won't get savagely mocked by the kids. Even in the wake of all of her success, she manages to maintain a humble persona that makes her very easy to respect, even for those who aren't exactly fans of her work. - Joe Satriani -- Guitarists
A[F]ter picking up a guitar at the age of 14, the self-taught virtuoso Joe Satriani has since elevated fans and music lovers with his original and impressive style of play. Since the late 1980s, Satriani has left his mark on the rock industry and emerged as one of the most sought-after guitarists: having taught legions of guitarists, from Metallica's Kirk Hammett, to Counting Crows' David Bryson, as well as jazz fusionist Charlie Hunter. - Joe Satriani -- Teaching
Joe Satriani will be the featured guest on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline", hosted by Bob Coburn, airing Wednesday, April 2 at 11:30 p.m. EST/8:30 p.m. PST. Fans can talk live with Satriani by calling 800-344-ROCK (7625). To find a station near you or to listen to the show live via the Internet, go to www.rocklineradio.com. - Joe Satriani -- Steve Vai

The Klezmatics are world-renowned superstars of the klezmer world. They erupted out of New York City’s East Village in 1986 and revitalized klezmer for the new century. The Klezmatics have received a 2007 GRAMMY nomination for "Wonder Wheel" (Lyrics by Woody Guthrie) in the Best Contemporary World Music Album category. Wonder Wheels takes found lyrics of Guthrie, and creatively sets them to music that careens across the world landscape, yet never loses its footing. Their klezmer is one steeped in Jewish spiritualism and Eastern European tradition while incorporating more provocative themes such as social rights and anti-fundamentalism with eclectic musical influences such as gospel, punk, and Arab, African, and Balkan rhythms. Over the course of nearly twenty years, they have released six albums of wild, spiritual, provocative, reflective, and ecstatically danceable music, forever redefining and transcending traditional labels. - Electric Guitars -- Strings
Fifty years ago, a clerk at the Gibson Electric Guitar Company wrote a routine entry for "Two Les Paul electric guitars" in a shipping ledger, sandwiched between two inexpensive electric guitars. That entry marked a revolution in the world of music. Half a century later, the Gibson Les Paul electric guitar trademarked body shape is recognized around the world as an icon for rock and roll music. Les Paul electric guitars from the 50s are now among the most highly sought electric guitars by collectors and players, and the Les Paul is still the flagship of Gibson's electric guitar line. - Helix -- Management Helix
