Schwab Pomerantz holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master's degree in business administration from George Washington University. She lives with her husband, author Gary M. Pomerantz, and their three children in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Schwab's gift along with other contributions were celebrated last night at a special event at the Santa Barbara Mission. To date, $1.7 million has been pledged for the Catholic Studies endowment at UCSB. A total of $5 million in private philanthropy is being sought for an endowed chair and programmatic support through a joint university and community fund-raising effort.
Recently, Windows NT Magazine's editorial director, Mark Smith, had the opportunity to talk with Derek Archer, the Schwab Corporation's vice president and chief technologist. From his San Francisco office, Archer explained Schwab's decision to implement a Windows NT Workstation distributed computing system. Here are some highlights of that conversation.
"The last year has really been about getting our act together," said Rebecca Saeger, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Schwab in San Francisco. "We're looking at this as something to accelerate our momentum."
