Charles & Colvard, which hold patents for the use of moissanite in jewellery, is likely to double its sales in 2005. Last year the company's revenue totaled US $ 24 million. Its 2005 half-year sales were over US $ 20 million. Much of that increase came from J.C. Penney, the first major retailer to carry the company's moissanite jewellery. The company is seeking to expand its presence in major US jewellery chains.

It continues that tradition today as the sole source and distributor of gem-quality created moissanite. Now it's taken its leadership role a step further with a $100,000 gift to support GIA's first Gemological Research Conference.
