Once one joins a channel, everything one types is read by others on that channel. Channels can either be named with numbers or with strings that begin with a "#" sign and can have topic descriptions (which are generally irrelevant to the actual subject of discussion).

Functions include digital de-emphasis, digital attenuation, soft mute, and zero flag for each channel. The device provides single-ended analog outputs... reducing the amount of external components needed. It operates on dual power supplies of +3.3V (digital) and 5V (analog).
