[A]n incarnation of channel was born. Nine days later, having magically created an entire set of songs, channel played their first show. Several months later, they released a well-received EP produced by Steven Ford....which is now extremely rare and valuable. Soon after the release of the EP, the two again relocated, but this time to Seattle, Washington, where Steven James Burkes came onboard to replace the drum machine. His playing style gave the songs a more organic dynamic, yet still allowed them to retain the complexities that were fundamental to their earlier sound. And with the latest addition of Aaron Reed, who has joined the band with his keyboard and abstractions, channel has even further evolved its layered sound that combines tension and grace.

[I]n wireless communications the channel is often modelled by a random attenuation (known as fading) of the transmitted signal, followed by additive noise. The attenuation term is a simplification of the underlying physical processes and captures the change in signal power over the course of the transmission. The noise in the model captures external interference and/or electronic noise in the receiver. If the attenuation term is complex it ... describes the relative time a signal takes to get through the channel. The statistics of the random attenuation are decided by previous measurements or physical simulations.
