   Background: Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a disorder of unknown etiology, which probably has an infectious basis. CFS is a state of chronic fatigue, which exists without other explanation, for a year or more, and is accompanied by cognitive difficulties.

Within three years, reports of patients with chronic fatigue began surfacing in the literature. Considering all this, the possible role of rubella immunizations in the etiology of chronic fatigue syndrome deserves further study.

   Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is a condition in which very modest degrees of physical or mental exertion induce severe fatigue. Increased activity typically causes symptoms to worsen. The 1999 prevalence study, which evaluated a large random sample of people in metropolitan Chicago, reveals rates of 422 people per 100,000. When a whole community was studied, not just people under a doctor's care, the numbers increased significantly. The new numbers reveal 800,000 adults in the United States have chronic fatigue syndrome, twice the number of people with multiple sclerosis.
10. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome -- Diseases
    Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is most frequently reported by women, but all demographics may be affected. The cause of the disease is not known, and therefore there is no cure. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is not simply feeling tired. It is severe fatigue, lack of stamina, an inability to concentrate, and an overall feeling of being unable to cope or function normally. It is often accompanied by discomfort and depression.
