Redlands, California—Using ESRI's ArcGIS Image Server, CenterPoint Energy now benefits from high-performance, on-the-fly image processing that helps decision making and boosts productivity. ArcGIS Image Server provides for rapid deployment of imagery for multiple simultaneous users. The application is initially being used by clients in Minnesota, but will soon be made available to all CenterPoint Energy employees in the seven states it serves.

CenterPoint Energy, which began a limited deployment of 10,000 electric and 100 gas advanced meters earlier this year, is one of several innovative utilities that are members of the ZigBee Alliance. It is joined by other utilities helping to ensure that ZigBee HANs support future energy management solutions. That group includes: DTE Energy, Oncor Electric Delivery, Sempra Utilities, Southern California Edison, and TXU Energy.

In 2007, more than 22,000 homes are scheduled to be delivered to the TXU Electric Delivery and CenterPoint ENERGY STAR Homes Program. These homes will need to be tested and certified as meeting ENERGY STAR specifications.
