Celebrity's cuisine has received countless endorsements in its 12-year history. Most recently, Porthole Cruise Magazine's annual Readers' Choice Awards (December 2002) singled out Celebrity for offering the "Best Main Dining Room Cuisine," after ranking Millennium's intimate "Olympic" restaurant first among the top 10 "Most Scrumptious Restaurants at Sea" (August 2002).

Celebrity dining options include traditional, fixed seating dining, as well as specialty restaurants, a casual dining area, Sushi Cafe and pasta/pizza bars. The Cova Café Milano serves freshly baked pastries and flavored coffees. Master Chef Michel Roux, is Celebrity’s culinary and wine consultant. Special diets can be accommodated with advance notice.

Other lines sending ships to Alaska for the upcoming season (roughly May to September) include Celebrity, which will deploy three vessels -- the Mercury, Infinity and Summit -- out of Vancouver. The line had previously planned to launch the Mercury from Seattle, but says the Canadian port works better logistically.

The fine marks the end of a rocky year for Celebrity Cruises' vessel Mercury. This summer more than 100 of its passengers and crew were sickened with a flulike virus, and one of its captains was arrested for being drunk before a Seattle departure.
