Celebrity Cruises While spas at sea have now become more commonplace, Celebrity Cruises was the pioneer in the development of the spa vacation within a cruise experience. Celebrity first introduced AquaSpaSM facilities and custom-branded programs in 1995 on the Century-class vessels. The line dedicated generous onboard space and invested in breakthrough spa technology, thereby offering a combination of world-class beauty, spa and fitness centers to expand its guests' vacation. Cruisers can now enjoy a luxury spa vacation by being completely pampered, while enjoying all the other features a cruise vacation offers.
September 12: Celebrity Cruises will temporarily use the Port of Philadelphia as a base HORIZON for its Bermuda sailing this weekend. ZENITH will arrive from and sail to Bermuda from either Philadelphia or Baltimore, pending berthing availability. The company's offices remain in operation with reservations personnel currently available on a 24-hour basis. The company is ... working with U.S. port authorities to ensure the normal operations of its fleet. Passengers needing assistance may reach Celebrity Cruises 1-800-437-3111. Guests calling from the United Kingdom or Ireland should dial +44 (0) 1932-834440.
Celebrity Cruises' award-winning Family Program offers onboard entertainment and activities for children and young adults. The four-tiered supervised youth programs are specially created for children ages 3-17 with entertainment and activities well suited for each group. Each morning a daily program lists the day's activities, games, parties and more. And special areas are set aside for "kids only," such as the Shipmates Fun Factory, teen centers and pools. Guests can feel secure leaving their children with specially trained and educated Celebrity youth counselors.
As far as the lounges go onboard, Celebrity Cruises once again gives smokers something to cheer about. "Michael's Club," the cigar bar, is almost as elegant as "The Olympic." This English Georgian style lounge is designed with natural cherry paneling and filled with beautiful classical art. Another specialty lounge is "Platinum Club," the Martini, Champagne and Caviar bar, overlooking the "Rendezvous Lounge," which serves as a gathering place with music and dancing while waiting to go to dinner.
They're playing Tinker Toys on a grand scale again in Papenburg, Germany, where the next Celebrity Cruises vessel is now under construction. Check out the adjacent photo, from this weekend's official keel-laying ceremony* for the Celebrity Solstice at the Meyer Werft shipyard. Cool, eh?
Mercury shows the distinctive color scheme and "X" symbol on the funnel. Celebrity Cruises has ordered four new ships, the Solstice, the Equinox, the Eclipse, and a fourth, still to be named ship. [1] These are to become Celebrity's largest vessels at 117,000 grt, holding 2,850 people each, and measuring 1,033 feet in length, and 121 feet across. They will be delivered in Fall 2008, Summer 2009, Summer 2010, and Fall 2011.
