Cat behavior consultants work with pet owners and their felines to strengthen those relationships. But they begin, first and foremost, with a curiosity about what makes cats tick. Jackson Galaxy, a cat behavior consultant in Redondo Beach, Calif., explains that an aspiring behaviorist spends a great deal of time observing cats. Galaxy did this by working at shelters for many years and by reading veterinary studies and books on cat behavior. "You start to get ideas as you watch the cats and the reading helps you develop your point of view," he explains.

Cat senses are attuned for hunting. Cats have highly advanced hearing, eyesight, taste, and touch receptors, making the cat extremely sensitive among mammals. Cats' night vision is superior to humans although their vision in daylight is inferior. Humans and cats have a similar range of hearing on the low end of the scale, but cats can hear much higher-pitched sounds, up to 64 kHz, which is 1.6 octaves above the range of a human, and even one octave above the range of a dog.[15] A domestic cat's sense of smell is about fourteen times as strong as a human's.[16] To aid with navigation and sensation, cats have dozens of movable vibrissae (whiskers) over their body, especially their face. Due to a mutation in an early cat ancestor, one of two genes necessary to taste sweetness may have been lost by the cat family.[17]

Big Cat personnel have been notified that the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality intends to begin public notification of a rule change regarding water quality sampling requirements during the week of October 22nd 2007. The rule change will allow water quality sampling frequencies to be changed from quarterly to annual and is an important development for companies planning to utilize the ARID Tool technology.
