For those that don’t know Carol Vorderman is a celebrity in the UK having appeared on numerous television programs. Carol is ... known for her intellectual prowess by performing impressive mathematical calculations on the show Countdown. Carol published several books and videos with the most recent expansion into Sudoku. The PSP game is a mixture of video tutorial and Sudoku game.
What is most impressive about Carol Vorderman’s Sudoku is the game’s depth; it clocks in at just over one million puzzles to solve, meaning the game will likely serve the needs of even the most-avid sudoku nut for quite a while. That’s ... quite a bit more than one can get from Go! Sudoku on the PlayStation Store. More people will get bored with Carol Vorderman’s Sudoku than will actually finish all one million puzzles.

For those of you who aren’t Sudoku experts, Carol Vorderman’s Sudoku includes several tutorial videos not only explaining the basics of Sudoku, but ... offering tips for both easy and super-difficult puzzles. The game also provides various “Assists” to help beginners solve puzzles. There’s even a Sudoku Solver that’s lets you enter any Sudoku puzzle that you might be stuck on, from a newspaper for example, and the game will help solve that puzzle for you.

At the age of 31, Vorderman made her name on Countdown first with Richard Whiteley from the show's inception in 1982 until Whiteley's death in June 2005. In October of the same year, Desmond Lynam replaced Whiteley, and co-hosted with Vorderman. In January 2007, Des O'Connor replaced Lynam, and Vorderman continues to co-host the show. Vorderman was a new type of game show hostess, revealing her intellectual ability by carrying out fast and accurate arithmetical calculations as part of the game. Her lasting success on the show led to her becoming one of the highest-paid women in Britain, earning £3 million per year.

Carol Vorderman does a good job making sudoku attractive to everybody. The gameplay is simple and effective, only requiring the player to use the D-pad to move on the main grid and to insert the correct number by pressing X on a small number pad on the right of the screen. In case there are more possible numbers on the same square, the Circle button allows players to pencil mark all the options. There is even the ability to keep track of how many times a certain number has been used, thank to a small grid on the lower-right: each column becomes green once a specific number has been used in every line, but it turns red if the same number is utilized more than nine times... indicating a mistake that needs correction. Various kinds of assists can be activated to help inexperienced players: auto pencil marks, an alarm for broken rules and errors, highlights to keep track of lines and columns, and even a selector that only lights the possible options on the small number grid.

Vorderman is the patron of the Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA) (her older brother, Anton, was born with a cleft lip and palate). In 2005 she was the winner of Ant and Dec’s Gameshow Marathon. As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations ITV ran a series of the nation’s favourite game shows featuring celebrities competing to become Gameshow Marathon winner and raise money for the charity of their choice. As series winner Carol won £60,000 for CLAPA.
