Carla Gugino: Roles
built 266 days ago
Gugino quickly found her calling as an actress and she threw herself into her studies. Because she was so young, her mother insisted that Gugino study only six months in Los Angeles and then return to San Diego. Just before the time period ended, Gugino made her film debut in the comedy Troop Beverly Hills (1986). More features followed, until she got her first supporting major role, that of Norma in the Robert De Niro/Leonardo Di Caprio drama This Boy's Life (1993). Her next co-starring role came in Miami Rhapsody (1995).

In 2003, Gugino returned to television to star in the short-lived crime drama, “Karen Sisco†(ABC, 2003-04). Based on a creation by legendary crime novelist, Elmore Leonard, the title role of Karen Sisco was originally portrayed by Jennifer Lopez in another Leonard adaptation, the tightly crafted Stephen Soderbergh crime caper, “Out of Sight†(1998). Despite strong reviews... “Karen Sisco†was yanked after just 10 episodes. Coming back in 2005, Gugino starred in the short-lived sci-fi drama, “Threshold†(CBS, 2005-06). After a promising start, “Threshold†began to stumble in the ratings. In an effort to boost sagging ratings, the series was moved from Friday nights to Tuesdays.

Carla made 16 films in the 90's including Son In Law and Miami Rhapsody. She ... was featured in Bon Jovi's 1994 video for “Always” and then ended the decade with her role as Ashley, Michael J. Fox's love interest, on the series, Spin City with Heather Locklear. Rumor has it that Carla was removed from the show because Fox's wife Tracy was uncomfortable with their good chemistry.
