By now, most NASCAR fans have seen the video in which Edwards boorishly pulls Kenseth away from a television interview with SPEED’s Bob Dilner. Following their wrangle, Edwards drew back as if he was going to punch Kenseth, causing the 2003 champion to flinch. Since then, dissension within the Roush Fenway Racing organization has become public.
Edwards, driving the Roush Fenway #99 Ford, ran a quick lap of 180.945 mph. #41-Reed Sorenson, #12-Ryan Newman, #07-Clint Bowyer and #31-Jeff Burton were the rest of the top 5. John Andretti at 174.702 mph in the #34 Chevrolet was the slowest of the 50 cars in the test.

Nascar passed the ruling down today over the failed inspection of Carl Edwards #99 car, they fined Carl 25 driver championship points, the crew chief was fined $25,000 and 25 owner points were taken from Roush Fenway Racing. This is similar to the penalties suffered by Johnny Sauter and Kyle Busch in New Hampshire when their cars failed to meet the minimum height requirements.

Edwards seemed more content this season as he has won three races, and easily qualified for the Chase for the Championship. However, he could no longer suppress his frustration towards his Roush Fenway Racing teammate Matt Kenseth, as their little tiff reached a boiling point Sunday at Martinsville.
There's a severe drought gripping the Atlanta area, but it might not have seemed that way to Carl Edwards on Friday. When it rains, it pours, and it remained open season on Edwards in the Nextel Cup garage at Atlanta Motor Speedway as the fallout continued following his altercation with Roush Fenway Racing teammate Matt Kenseth.
