Carl Edwards: Laps
built 638 days ago
With 32 laps to go Carl Edwards lead over Kasey Kahne and Clint Bowyer as the field took the final green flag of the night. The top three got clear on the restart with a few carlengths separating them.
Edwards ran a fast lap of 175.776 mph in the #60 Sharp AQUOS Ford. #5-Kyle Busch, #24-Casey Mears, #2-Clint Bowyer and #29-Jeff Burton were the rest of the top 5 of the 45 cars running in this practice session.
Carl failed to qualify for the feature event in time trials which put him in the heat races to attempt to qualify. Carl finished ninth in his heat race and finished seventh in the consolation race. Although Edwards was going forward, neither finish was enough to earn a starting position in the 100 lap feature. When offered a provisional starting position Carl turned it down. Carl said if he didn't earn the position he won't be racing.

Edwards ran a quick lap of 152.957 mph in the #60 Dish Network Ford. #90-Stephen Leicht, #20-Denny Hamlin, #10-Dave Blaney and #77-Kevin Harvick rounded out the top 5 of the 38 cars practicing for Saturday’s Dover 200.
Edwards really had to work on Kenseth to get the lead away, but once he did, he checked out. Kenseth had tires that were 40 laps older, but he made Edwards earn it.
