Caribbean Literature will comprise 100,000 pages of fiction and poetry of hundreds of authors in various languages. The published volumes, manuscripts, archival and other kinds of materials targeted for inclusion in this collection will be presented in their original language. The collection starts with the early literature produced in Spanish and French colonies in the 1800s, and moves into the vast materials produced over the 2nd half of the 20th Century. The debate initiated in the last issue of the Journal of Caribbean Literatures entitled The Caribbean that isn't? sought to explore in part the role and responsibility of intellectuals vis à vis Caribbean realities. Exchange between intellectuals would be a needed first step to any commitment to alleviating some of the political, economic, social or literary woes which affect the region. The authors explored in The Caribbean that is? point to the existence of such exchange, despite colonially induced barriers. The analysis offered ... leads into two directions.

Searches under a variety of different subject headings beginning with “postcolonial” produces more results.
