The LCS-2514 has discrete 4-channel inputs designed to maximize audio from newer 4-channel sound cards. When used with standard 2-channel sound cards, the output to the rear speakers is digitally processed with Labtec's exclusive Matrix 3D Surround sound which provides true rear channel output instead of mirroring the sound from the front channel speakers. The LCS-2514 ... benefits from another Labtec exclusive: Real-Time Dynamic Bass Equalization -- which actively adjusts sound for optimum bass and minimal distortion at all volume levels. The floor-mounted, wood-enclosed subwoofer is driven by 15 watts of power, for deep, rich bass while the four satellites are driven by 16 watts of total power for clear mid-range and crisp highs. Max-X Drivers (high excursion drivers) provide greater dynamic range, improved bass and less distortion. Separate front and rear speaker volume controls and wall mounting brackets for the rear satellites also enable the user to create personal listening environments for complete immersion.

Whereas network cards used to be expansion cards that plug into a computer bus, the low cost and ubiquity of the Ethernet standard means that most newer computers have a network interface built into the motherboard. These either have Ethernet capabilities integrated into the motherboard chipset, or implemented via a low cost dedicated Ethernet chip, connected through the PCI (or the newer PCI express bus).
