The Capital District and the surrounding region of Upstate New York are rich in history and scenic beauty. The nearby Adirondack and Catskill Mountains of New York and Berkshire and Green Mountains of New England, along with the rivers and many lakes and parks in the region, offer a year-round diversity of outdoor recreational opportunities. Spectator sports are available with a minor league professional baseball team, and minor league hockey and basketball teams playing in the district. The district ... offers college hockey, basketball and football. During August, nearby Saratoga Springs becomes the national center of thoroughbred racing. The performing arts have a strong presence throughout the year.

The term Capital District was originated in the 1920s in an effort between the Albany Chamber of Commerce (now known as the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce) and the Albany Times Union. Other nicknames have included Tri-Cities and Tech Valley, while Capital Region is the most popular of all.[2]
Capital District Salt’s building carries a design load of 55 pounds per square foot and will withstand 60 mile per hour winds. "The structure is designed with a one day snow-shed. The center purlin at the ridge is lower than the top edge of the truss. It serves as a divider bar. The weight of the snow presses downward across the purlin, creating a break in the snow. The snow simply slides off," says Jim Albinger, Cover-All’s Dealer Development Manager.
