The capability of a capacitor to store electricity is known as capacitance of that capacitor. It is denoted by C. The measuring unit of capacitance is Farad, but Farad is very large unit. Its smaller units are Kilo Micro Farad (KMFD), Micro Farad (MFD), Kilo Pico Farad (KPF) or Nano Farad (NF) and Pico Farad (PF). The first generation of the MLCC project resulted in a lead- and cadmium-free Class 1 multilayer ceramic capacitor. KEMET realized the great potential of this newly invented material set and associated processing technology, and after optimization of all the materials and processes, released a second generation of the MLCCs with up to 15 times higher capacitance. Each wire forms a capacitor plate. Gimmick capacitors are ... a form of variable capacitor. Small changes in capacitance (20 percent or less) are obtained by twisting and untwisting the two wires.

As with paper capacitors, the capacitance value of an electrolytic capacitor is "easy to please", and an exact uF replacement is not necessary. For example, you can replace a 30 uF with a 33 uF or replace a 20 uF with a 22uF. If you can't find a close replacement …better to go with a higher uF value than a lower uF.
