Last year, Canon's entry-level Digital Elph was the 7-megapixel PowerShot SD1000. Priced at $250, it was thin and pretty but not quite a powerhouse. This year, the SD1100 IS adds image stabilization without growing more than a millimeter in thickness, and bumps the sensor up to 8 megapixels. more

Canon debate is a key focus of the Harry Potter fandom, particularly within fan websites such as The Harry Potter Lexicon. In addition to the seven books of the series, as well as the charity books Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through the Ages (which contains much material not mentioned in the main series), particular importance is placed upon what is personally said, implied or endorsed by author J.K. Rowling. There are some rare contradictions - for example, while the content of both the films and computer games based on the series have been endorsed by Rowling, new elements introduced within them (such as persons or spells not appearing in the books) are generally not considered canon.
Apologies for the absolute onslaught of cameras today - it appears both Sony and Canon had a slight problem with announcing cameras on the same day! Oh, to be a fly on the wall in those offices...Read Story

At 60 lux, the Canon HV10 failed to impress. Somehow, the sensor was not able parlay size into an effective defense again the dreaded forces of dim lighting. The image was very dark, and lost a good deal of color information. It was disappointing – some camcorders with equally large sensors don’t look this dark until 15-20 lux. Noise ... picked up a good deal, and it created a fuzzy wash over the whole image. Thankfully, the fact that it’s got the resolution of high definition prevented the noise from obscuring most of the fine detail.
