Candida: Bodies

When following the Candida diet, you must make sure that your blood sugar levels are kept at an acceptable level by eating a substantial breakfast, lunch and supper. If you find that your energy level is low or you are experiencing dizziness while on the Candida diet, it is probably due to low blood sugar. If this happens, simply add a mid-morning and mid afternoon snack. Please remember to drink lots of water in order to assist the elimination of toxins from your body. After a few days of detoxing, some of your symptoms may become worse and you could ... experience headaches. This is quite normal and part of the detoxification process.

The excess Candida yeast in the intestines is then thought to penetrate the intestinal wall, causing yeast and other unwanted particles to be absorbed into the body. The absorbed yeast particles are believed to activate the immune system, resulting in an allergic hypersensitivity to Candida.

Candida is always present in the body in small amounts. However, when an imbalance occurs, such as when the normal acidity of the vagina changes or when hormonal balance changes, Candida can multiply. When that happens, symptoms of candidiasis appear.

Candida is naturally occurring yeast found in the body and its overgrowth has been found to be a frequent complication or even a causative factor in many of today's illnesses. Treatment is available and isn't as complicated as you may think.

Many people struggle with systemic yeast overgrowth... known as Candida. In the 1986 publication of Trowbridge and Walker's "The Yeast Syndrome," it is stated that “one-third of the total populations of all Western industrialized countries are affected.” Due to prolific use of antibiotics, steroids, and synthetic hormones, as well as increasingly nutrient-poor diets and increasing bodily pollution, the numbers of people who have yeast overgrowth health problems have increased every year since 1986. Donna Gates, of The Body Ecology Diet, estimates that over 80 million people suffer from Candida. This number only includes those people who are showing symptoms of the overgrowth. It does not include the millions of people whose bodies are seemingly handling yeast overgrowths without symptoms.

Vulvovaginitis Irritation of the vagina and the [V]ulva (the external gentalia) can ... be caused by Candida overgrowth. This is more likely to happen with changes in hormone levels, like those seen in pregnancy or while taking estrogens (whether for birth control or for other reasons). It can also be seen with antibiotic therapy, steroid treatment, diabetes (like yeast, Candida grows very well with extra sugar around), foreign bodies in the vagina or cervix such as intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUDs) or diaphragms, use of diapers, and in HIV infection (HIV specifically attackes the part of the immune system that normally protects against Candida). Candida vaginitis is not a sexually-transmitted disease (remember: everyone has Candida somewhere). It is usually treated with oral antifungal antibiotics.
