   REFORM PROPOSALS Campaign finance reform proposals are taking shape at the state and national level. This section examines five strategies that have gained significant public support and have the potential to influence policy.

5. Marketing Campaign Search Engine
   Search Engine Optimisation is the Holey-Grail of Internet Marketing when successful, providing a higher return on investment than any other type of Internet Marketing Campaign. Search Engine Optimisation is the process of designing and adjusting parts of a website to rank highly on the search engines results pages (SERP's) and involves a lot of work off-site as well. Not to be confused with Pay Pay Click Advertising which displays text based adverts in the sponsored results normally on the right side of results pages. Search Engine Optimisation if successful will obtain a high position for specific keywords and keywords phrases related to your Company, products and or services in the free results (organic results).
6. Sicily -- Sicily Campaign
   The Allied invasion of Sicily began on the night of 9 July 1943, and ended 17 August in an Allied victory. The invasion of the island was codenamed Operation Husky and launched the Italian Campaign. It was the largest amphibious operation of World War II in terms of men landed on the beaches and of frontage. Strategically, the Sicily operation achieved the goals set out for it by Allied planners. Axis air and naval forces were driven from the island; the Mediterranean Sea lanes were opened and Mussolini had been toppled from power. It opened the way to the Allied invasion of Italy, which had not necessarily been seen as a follow-up to Operation Husky.
7. Campaign Finance Reform -- Laws
   In 2003, the legislature and Governor Murkowski finally succeeded in rolling back these critical campaign finance reforms. AkPIRG worked hard to defend citizen access to open government. The Big Money effort started with an attempt to change lobbying disclosure laws. Then the Governor introduced a bill to eliminate the Alaska Public Offices Commission (APOC), the public's watchdog on campaign contributions and disclosures. The final version of that bill had little to do with the APOC and reform. It did double all the campaign limits that voters had supported to such a high degree in 1996, opening the flood gate for a vast increase of Big Money influencing Alaska politics.
8. Social Marketing -- Campaigns
   Social Marketing helps companies capitalize on cutting-edge marketing techniques. Through best-practice analysis and consumer and executive surveys, the research shows marketers how to profit from the use of Weblogs, podcasts, really simple syndication (RSS) and other emerging marketing tools, as well as how to develop, execute and measure word-of-mouth campaigns. As an increasing number of consumers obtain their information from non-traditional sources, Social Marketing will help marketers gain unique insights into these burgeoning areas.
9. Yorktown Campaign -- Native Americans
   While the Yorktown campaign is seen as the final act of the American Revolution, the war in the West continued for more than a decade. North of the Ohio River, the vast territories that had been ceded to the new United States by the Treaty of Paris in 1783 were a prize that remained in the eyes of all parties in this western war. The United States saw the Northwest Territory as a source of revenue for war debts and a reservoir of private property that would protect the citizens of the new experiment in democracy from undue government influence. Great Britain saw a great reservoir of furs and other resources with which to support her empire, and was uncomfortable over the loss of the territory to her former colony. For the Native Americans the issue was more fundamental. They faced the loss of their homelands forever.
