Calvin Coolidge was fifty years trudging from his birthplace in Vermont to a place in Boston from which he started on his way to fame. Those fifty years in that part of the world known as Christendom-the West, from the early seventies of the last century ts the mid years of the second decade in the new century were years of tremendous stress and change. It was for the most part peaceful change, social and economic and so, of course, political change.
The business of porn is business, to paraphrase Calvin Coolidge, but there is no law in Las Vegas that says business can't be enjoyable. The Internext Expo provides the latest webmaster services and gadgetry with all the pleasant trappings of the Adult world
Calvin Coolidge, the careful, quiet Vermont Yankee, took his place as the leader of the American people in the age of bath tub gin, of flappers and the Charleston, of raccoon coats and Stutz Bearcats. Millions of his fellow citizens withdrew their life savings from the bank for a giddy fling in the always rising stock market. It was the era of the Great Experiment, Prohibition, which paved the way for mobsters, hijackers, and corrupted officials. It was the age of America on a grand spree. Amidst the glitter and the dazzle was the man who stood for all the Puritan virtues and who watched those traditions collapsing all around him.
[M]uch for the time when Calvin Coolidge came into the world. Now for the place. Consider Vermont. All this turmoil that was the America of the decade that followed the Civil War, all this soot and ashes of corruption within the gilded sepulchre of the era, scarcely touched the soft green mountains of Vermont. There the old America lay peacefully basking in the ideals of its past. Vermont remained calm and sweet and lovely, like the interior of some cool museum preserving colonial life.
Calvin Coolidge was born on Independence Day, 1872. He was born at Plymouth Notch, Vermont. He was born in a five-room, story and a half cottage attached to the post office and general store. His mother had brown hair with a hint of gold in it. His father owned the general store and he had a farm. The neighbors elected Calvin's father as state legislature.
Calvin Coolidge was born at the family home adjoining the Coolidge General Store in Plymouth, Vermont. He graduated from Amherst in 1895, after which he studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1897. He set up a law practice in Northampton, Massachusetts. There, he served in various local positions, including City Council member and City Solicitor.
