California Micro Devices has unveiled XtremeESD, a family of protection devices developed with an architecture designed to meet challenging ESD requirements. The XtremeESD product, the CM1231-02SO, uses CMD’s Picoguard XP architecture. The Picoguard XP architecture is a double clamping architecture that integrates multiple stages of ESD protection into a single device. This architecture provides protection for sensitive high speed ICs by reducing the clamping voltage and the amount of residual current that passes through to the protected ASIC, achieving significantly better performance than the best ESD diode arrays on the market. The company has developed the XtremeESD family of devices, including the PicoGuard XP, to address these requirements.

MILPITAS, Calif., July 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- California Micro Devices (NASDAQ: CAMD) today announced its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal 2008, which ended June 30, 2007. Revenue, GAAP EPS and non- GAAP EPS were all near or at the high end of revised guidance. Revenue was $13.1 million, compared to $16.1 million a year ago. On a GAAP basis, the company reported a loss of $0.05 per share compared to a loss of $0.09 in Q1 of fiscal 2007, which included a $2.2 million write off of in-process R&D related to the Arques Technology acquisition. On a non-GAAP basis, excluding Arques Technology acquisition costs and employee stock-based compensation expenses, and using a cash basis tax rate, the company posted a loss of $0.02 per share compared to a profit of $0.05 a year ago.

California Micro Devices today introduced the first of its new PhotonIC(TM) family of highly integrated LED drivers. The PhotonIC(TM) CM4600 is a single chip solution capable of driving all the LEDs in a wireless handset. As mobile phones integrate higher levels of multimedia capabilities, primary and secondary display resolutions are increasing and their brightness is a key selection criterion for consumers. Additionally, the higher resolution cameras featured in the latest handset designs require the addition of a camera flash. Finally, color LEDs are increasingly being used to support features such as "funlights" or color alerts.
