The nationally acclaimed repertoire ensemble Caliente is the only youth group to receive the prestigious Houston Press Award. Under the direction of Jose Antonio Diaz, the ensemble has appeared with some of the music industry’s biggest stars, such as Eddie Palmieri, Pete Escovedo, Nestor Torres, David Sanchez, John Santos, and the Buena Vista Social Club.

During the planning for Caliente, Chuck Foster told some friends that the resort would be the “hottest nudist resort in the country.” One of them responded, “Ah, Caliente,” which is Spanish for “hot”. The name resonated with Foster, now the resort’s Vice President. Once having committed to the Hispanic name for the project, it seemed only natural to develop the theme throughout. The result has been that all of the architecture, street names and the names of Caliente’s features-- bars, restaurants, night club, building names-- carry the theme forward.

Club Caliente is enormous! Explore any of the seven pools and enjoy the many outdoor activities one might only expect at an opulent Caribbean resort. There are organized activities as well, the problem is deciding what to do next! The largest of the seven pools has two islands and a grotto waterfall that children love playing in almost as much as the playground.

Under that agreement, Carnegie is sole distributor in Brazil of Caliente's international racing simulcasts. That allows Carnegie to show real-time telecasts of Brazilian and foreign horse races at jockey clubs (race tracks) and off-track betting parlors, making it possible for patrons of those facilities to wager on a number of races.
