Caesar is a sable and white, medium sized collie boy. He is nearly seven years old, though he has the energy of a younger dog. Caesar loves going on walks and is well-behaved on a leash. He is very playful and gets along with other dogs and cats. He has collie friendliness and is smart and a fast learner. He responds to commands to come, sit, shake, upstairs, outside, and get down (he is tempted to counter-surf if tempting items are left within reach). He may have some skin allergies so frequent baths will help keep his skin clear and healthy.

Caesar proposed a law for the redistribution of public lands to the poor, a proposal supported by Pompey, by force of arms if need be, and by Crassus, making the triumvirate public. Pompey filled the city with soldiers, and the triumvirate's opponents were intimidated. Bibulus attempted to declare the omens unfavourable and ... void the new law, but was driven from the forum by Caesar's armed supporters. His lictors had their fasces broken, two tribunes accompanying him were wounded, and Bibulus himself had a bucket of excrement thrown over him. In fear of his life, he retired to his house for the rest of the year, issuing occasional proclamations of bad omens. These attempts to obstruct Caesar's legislation proved ineffective.

In the following years Caesar emerged as one of the leading political and social personalities of Rome. Cultivated, charming, and handsome, vain about his appearance, he made his love affairs the talk of Roman society. He recognized the urban proletariat as one of the major sources of political power and cultivated this group assiduously. He maintained Marian connections, and in 65 B.C., when he was aedile, he restored the triumphal monuments of Marius that had been dismantled under Sulla. Caesar was famous for his hospitality and was often heavily in debt. His aedileship was especially noted for its lavish displays and games.

Julius Caesar was probably written in 1599, the same year Shakespeare wrote Henry V and As You Like It and drafted Hamlet. The first record of it being performed comes from the diary of Thomas Platter, who states that he saw the play on September 21, 1599, meaning that it may have been the play that opened the Globe Theatre.
