Cadillac gave the public its first glimpse of the supercharged XLR-V in its Super Bowl commercial, which aired February 6, 2005. Super Bowl MVP, Deion Branch was ... awarded an XLR. The car was formally introduced at the 2005 New York International Auto Show.

The sporty Cadillac XLR roadster is the automaker's answer to the Mercedes-Benz SL, based on the Chevrolet Corvette. The base XLR has a V8 that generates well above 300 hp. The higher-performance XLR-V variant has a supercharged V8 with more than 400 hp. Recent updates include two limited-edition trim and equipment packages, called Passion Red and Platinum. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard across the line. The XLR has a retractable hardtop that enables the car to go from closed coupe to open roadster in less than 30 seconds.

The Cadillac XLR-V offers luxurious features, but its offering price of $100,000 to the interested buyers is the real cause for thinking twice before actually purchasing this 2007 model.
