University life is spoofed in this Buster Keaton feature with him playing a bookish student who tries to woo a co-ed with an eye for athletes. Anne Cornwall, Harold Goodwin co-star. Next, Buster is found under the spreading chestnut tree as "The Blacksmith" (1922); tries unsuccessfully to take his own life in the long-lost "Hard Luck" (1921); and is hired to automate a college dean's home after being mistaken for an electrical engineer in "The Electric House" (1922). 132 min. total. Standard; Soundtrack: music score. Silent with music score.
Buster Keaton plays every part in this brilliant comedy about a vaudeville house, including simultaneously playing all eight musicians in a minstrel show! One of the most extraordinary films of this period.

[One] of Keaton's strategies was to avoid anticipation. Instead of showing you what was about to happen, he showed you what was happening; the surprise and the response are both unexpected, and funnier. He ... gets laughs by the application of perfect logic. In "Our Hospitality," he discovers he is in the house of a family sworn to kill him. But Southern Hospitality insists they cannot shoot a visitor in their own house. So Buster invites himself to spend the night.
Buster designs a house with all the latest gadgets for a real estate tycoon who will buy thousands, if the model home impresses him. But during the demonstration, everything that can go wrong does – hilariously!
